Sunday Morning Adult Discipleship – Sundays after worship

This group meets in the church parlor after worship most Sundays. They are currently studying Simon Peter: Faithful but Flawed Disciple. Study books are available for pick-up at the front desk in the Gathering Space. Participants can still attend and engage in the conversation if they have not completed the reading. There are videos that are presented as part of the Sunday morning gathering.

 

Parents of School Aged Children – Sundays after worship

Starting in November we are planning to host occasional gatherings for parents of school aged children to meet and talk about relevant faith topics while the children experience bonus faith formation time after church. Our first gathering will likely on November 5th. Children will have a special workshop on how to find things in the Bible. Parents will discuss how the Bible shapes our own lives of faith and strategies for reading the Bible with our children. Material for the grown-ups first gathering will come from the book The Hopeful Family: Raising Resilient Children in Uncertain Times by Amelia Richardson Dress. It is available in kindle and paperback formats if you would like to purchase a copy. However, no reading is required to attend. Anyone who is receiving updates about Godly Play and Middle School Youth Group is already on the email list for this group. Owen’s Study Group – Wednesdays 8am

This Wednesday morning men’s group meets weekly via zoom and in person at the church the first Wednesday of each month. They read books on spirituality, politics, and history and discuss how that reading impacts our understanding of faith. The Journey-Wednesday Evening Women’s Group – 3rd Wednesday 7pm

The Journey meets the third Wednesday of most months at 7:00 p.m. in the church parlor for a time of prayer and reflection on scripture. No preparation is necessary. The group begins with an opening prayer and scripture reflection and ends by checking in with one another and offering prayers for concerns that are raised. While people enjoy an extended time for checking in, people can leave earlier as needed. We occasionally shift the meeting week based on the group’s schedules. PCW Men’s Bible Study – Thursdays 7am

PCW Men’s Bible Study will begin on Thursday September 14th 2023 at 7am at the church. The group will meet every Thursday morning, read scripture together and then have a conversation about what God is saying to us through those words today. We will be kicking off with a study on Simon Peter, the flawed yet faithful disciple. Contact Ken Popham at popmail2020@gmail.com if you have any questions about this study group.

 

Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study on Zoom – Thursdays 9am

This group typically dives into a Bible study in the fall and does a book read in the Spring related to some aspect of faith. This fall our group will be studying Encounters with Jesus: Studies in the Gospel of John by Frances Taylor Gench. Participants are asked to order their own copy of the study from their favorite book retailer. If cost is a barrier to participation, let Pastor Anne know and the church can order you a copy. Our first bible study will occur on Thursday September 21st on zoom. We will have a preliminary fellowship gathering with coffee and fruit at 9:00am on Thursday September 7th at Becky Preslar’s house so people can see each other in person before switching to zoom. 319 Beach Avenue, Wyoming, OH.
